A Journey into NFTs and Web3
First Foray into the Digital Frontier: Corgi Club represents the artist's first attempt to navigate the emerging world of NFTs and understand the intricacies of blockchain technology and Web3. It stands as a personal exploration of a revolutionary digital space, reflecting both curiosity and the challenges of engaging with a new medium. This initial project served as a stepping stone toward understanding concepts like decentralized ownership, digital collectibility, and the value of metadata within NFT ecosystems.

PROCESS:

From iPad to Photoshop:

The collection began with hand-drawn artwork created on an iPad, symbolizing a connection to traditional artistic roots while embracing digital tools. The transition to Photoshop marked a shift to a more technical approach, where actions were used to duplicate and recolor assets. This workflow illustrates a hands-on, labor-intensive approach that mirrors the artist’s resourcefulness in adapting to new challenges.

Manual File Management:

Without a solid understanding of Python or automated scripting, the process involved renaming and reorganizing files manually. This method was time-consuming and highlights the artist's early stage in technical learning. It reflects a sincere but unrefined effort to bring the collection to life without the streamlined efficiency that could have been achieved with advanced tools or coding knowledge.

Learning the Importance of Metadata

Focus on Visual Appeal:

In the early stages, the artist prioritized the images and their collectability, underestimating the critical role of metadata in the NFT space. This gap in understanding led to organizational challenges, as metadata plays a crucial role in ensuring an NFT’s traceability, rarity, and utility within a blockchain ecosystem.

Lessons in Efficiency:

Countless hours were spent manually creating and organizing spreadsheets and documents for the project—efforts that could have been simplified with Python scripts or other automation tools. This realization became a pivotal learning experience for the artist, emphasizing the importance of proper planning and technical literacy in NFT creation.
